Archery

Posted by Picasa
7th June. This morning was cold cold cold to start with, so it was a porridge morning. We packed up from Dunsborough and drove to the outskirts of Busselton where there is an archery tourism attraction which kids can do – Conor and Daniel had been looking forward to it for days. It was actually really quite good – proper wooden bows and arrows, and the man there shows you how to do it properly (lots of rules) and then you go off and work your way through nine different targets, getting slightly harder each time. The boys really liked being able to shoot a *real* bow and arrow at a target – imagine how well the place would do for birthday parties! There are some good photos attached.
After that we had lunch by the river in Busselton before asking at the tourist bureau about places around Donnybrook and Ferguson Valley etc which was where we were going to camp for the night. The only place we really wanted to go was a cidery/brewery but it seems that everything has shut up shop after the long weekend so no luck. We didn’t have time to go through Donnybrook (which I was looking forward to because it’s an apple centre) but had a nice drive through the Ferguson Valley to the campsite which is by the river, and really picturesque. Lots of big rocks and logs for the kids to climb on. There are also quite a lot of mountain bike tracks around here so we might hopefully have time to do one or two in the morning before hitting Perth. Tomorrow night we’ll catch up with Juls, one of Jane’s friends who used to live around the corner from us in Campbell, and in the meantime we’re booked into a gold plated ‘big city’ caravan park near the airport (very scenic I’m sure).
