Stokes Bay

Yesterday we drove with Bron and her kids to Emu Bay, which is where she and Mike used to live. They had an amazing view down to the beach, a couple of hundred feet away, which would be a pretty cool way to live. The beach itself is also really nice, and at Bron’s suggestion we all piled into her car and drove along it for a bit of a way with the kids standing up, heads out of the sunroof. That went down really well with our kids, and we had a nice time just playing on the beach creating channels in the side of the stream that leads down to the sea. We then had the excitement of trying to push and jump start Bron’s car on the way back (very hard on sand!), and resorted to our jump leads – apparently living so close to the sea plays havoc with cars here.
Today we headed off with Bron and her kids to Stokes Bay, which is even better than Emu Bay – we were also lucky with the weather and had a sunny day, the sun glinting off the sea … postcard view (that’s where the photos are from below). You have to walk through (bent over in some places) a tunnel/cave to get to this nice beach from the car park and there’s lots of rocks and caves which the kids had a great time in. We tried to catch some little shrimp which Bron was going to take back to the aquarium at the penguin tour place, but I only managed three, so it wasn’t considered worth it. Then we stopped in at the KI Lavender Farm to test out their lavender scones and lavender ice cream, both of which got good reviews from the kids.
